As the negociations for the resumption of
Marine Lots Nos. 20 & 21 on behalf of the Admiralty, have now
been brought to a successful issue, I have the honour to re-
quest that the services which I rendered in preparing the
necessary valuation may be recognised.
My reasons for making this request are that
the work, being on behalf of the Admiralty, may fairly be re-
garded as outside my ordinary duties as Acting Director of
Public Works, and, further, that it had to be undertaken at a
period of exceptional pressure and was performed antirely outside the recognised official hours.
Mr.Leigh, who acted as my colleague in making the valuation, has received a fee of $500 for his services and I would point out that, besides other matters, upon me de- volved the additional duty of examining the records of all
former negociations regarding the resumption of this proper-
ty.
That the result of the present negociations
must be regarded as very satisfactory may be gathered from
the fact that in 1893 Mr. Sharp, the owner valued the property
